Late Heian Period Mounted Archer

Mounted samurai archer from the late Heian period (12th century Japan), Genpei War era, realistic photographic style. He is young, with a thin mustache and an elegant, aristocratic appearance. The background is a battlefield of the Genpei War, with mounted archers galloping. The horse and the rider’s lower body are moving and facing left. Left-facing horse profile; we see the horse’s left side, moving right-to-left across the frame. The rider’s upper body is twisted slightly to the right. His face and gaze are directed to the right, aiming at a distant target. He is not facing the camera. He is wearing early ō-yoroi style lamellar armor, woven with crimson thread, with large square sode shoulder guards, including sendan-no-ita and hato-no-ita at chest, kabuto(helmet) has wide fukigaeshi. A brand new, dark green kasuri-patterned kimono and hakama are barely visible beneath the armor. He is actively drawing a long asymmetrical japanese yumi bow, string fully drawn, a single arrow ready to be released, correct mounted archery posture. He rides a native Japanese horse, a brown, well-built horse with white markings on its face, equipped with reins and stirrups. He rides with a traditional Japanese wooden saddle, dark lacquered wood, Heian-period style. The horse is decorated with ornate scarlet tassels. A simple quiver for arrows is worn on his back. As a secondary weapon, he carries a long, upcurved tachi (long Japanese sword) about the length of his leg. The tachi has a gold leaf handle and a black lacquered scabbard, sheathed tachi suspended from the left side of the belt by hangers (ashi), edge down, but is not actually being used. The tachi has black leather-wrapped hilt long enough to be held in both hands and has a wide black iron tsuba (guard). Pre-gunpowder era. No firearms. No face mask. No Sengoku or Edo armor styles. No fantasy elements.
