古来、桜と名のつく地名のところは、死体捨て場だったそうです。 桜の木は春になると、死者の魂を咲かせ、はらはらと散っていく。 その潔さもこの世のものとは思えぬ美しさを思わせたようです。 尚、「桜の木の下には…」が広まったのは、『桜の樹の下には』という短篇小説で「桜の木の下には屍体が埋まっているから美しい」という表現をされたことが広まるきっかけになったようです。
