Flower water tree: dogwood
(English: flowering dogwood, dogwood, scientific name: Cornus florida)
A deciduous tree native to North America.
It was given to Japan in 1912 in return for cherry blossoms given to Washington, D.C.
The flowering period is from April 10th to May 10th, and many white and red flowers are produced at the tips of the branches.
The Japanese name Dogwood comes from the fact that it belongs to the Cornus genus and the flowers are more conspicuous than the Japanese Dogwood (Mizuki).
