【Banzai Sansho Day】
It is said that on this day in 1889 (Meiji 22), the day the Constitution of the Empire of Japan was promulgated, the chant of Banzai was performed for the first time toward Emperor Meiji's carriage as he headed to the temporary military parade ceremony at Aoyama Drill Ground in Tokyo. At that time, they considered chanting words such as ``Vive la France'' in French and ``Save the King'' in English, and decided to chant ``Vanzai, Vanzai, Vanzai,'' proposed by Professor Kenzo Wadagaki of the Imperial University Law School (currently the Faculty of Law at the University of Tokyo).
